BMI is located in the Napa Valley, California, home of many excellent wineries. In the old days, wineries often used Redwood tanks to store their wines, now they pretty much just use stainless steel for that purpose. One of the oldest wineries was replacing their Redwood tanks and I was able to acquire a couple of the planks. These are old growth redwood, plank sawn, infused with years of red wines! This #88 is the first dulcimer I have made with this rare wood.
So, solid Redwood tank top, solid cherry back (one piece), sides, fingerboard and head. Corian nut and saddle. Traditional hourglass shape. Fingerboard has nickel-silver frets and four Grover deluxe chrome tuners.
